ACE – ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES

ACE – ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES

In the 1980’s Dr Vincent Felitti conducted a study of over 17,000 adult middle class Americans to find out how adverse childhood experiences prior to the age of 18 impacted their lives.  He discovered how abuse, neglect, humiliation as a child affected their habits and health 20 or 30 years later.  The higher the score  the more likely one is to develop a serious illness, addiction, promiscuity, self-neglect or a lower life expectancy.
